New head of Central Bank of Iran appointed

Ali Saleh-Abadi has been appointed as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), the country’s Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs Ehsan Khandouzi announced on his Twitter account on Wednesday.

Saleh-Abadi, 43, was suggested for the post by the minister of finance and economic affairs and approved by President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi’s administration.

The new top banker, a PhD graduate of University of Tehran in financial management, replaced Akbar Komijani, former CBI governor.

According to Tasnim News Agency Saleh-Abadi enjoys 20 years of experience of serving in top managerial posts in the money and capital markets and is also the founder of the Securities and Exchange Organization of Iran.
