Armenian envoy visits historic sites of Susa

Armenia’s Ambassador to Iran Artashes Tumanyan on Thursday visited historical and religious monuments and tourist attractions of Susa City in Khuzestan Province, southwestern Iran.

Tumanyan and a group of traders were welcomed by the governor of Susa and visited the cultural heritage treasures of the city, the Susa Museum, the historical monuments, Apadana, Darius Palace, the Royal City, the Fifteenth City, Susa Castle, and the Ziggurat of Chogha Zanbil, IRNA reported.

Susa is an Iranian ancient city located between the Karkheh and Dez Rivers in Iran. Susa was the capital of Elamite and the Achaemenid empires. The city kept its importance during the Parthian and Sassanid periods.

During the two-day trip to Khuzestan Province, the Armenian ambassador also visited fish farms, sugarcane factories, and antiquities in the province.
