Among the country’s top steel producers, the Mobarakeh Steel Company had the best performance in the said six months with over 4.4 million tons of crude steel output, IRNA reported.
Iranian steelmakers produced 1.6 million tons of steel ingots in the month to September 22, with 19 percent fall compared to the same period of preceding year.
Major Iranian steel producers produced over 22.5 million tons of steel ingots in the previous Iranian year (ended on March 20), registering an eight percent rise year on year.
According to recent figures released by the World Steel Association (WSA), Iranian steelmakers churned out 20.4 million tons of crude steel during the first eight months of 2021, marking a 9.7 percent rise compared to the corresponding figure for 2020, which was 18.6 million tons.
Iranian smelters cast 2.5 million tons of crude steel in August, showing an 8.7 percent increase compared to the figure for the same month of 2020, which was 2.3 million tons.
Based on the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Vision Plan, the country’s total steel production capacity is to hit 55 million tons a year by 2025, with export figures expected to reach 10-15 million tons.
