Over 1,900 films submitted to Iran’s Roshd Int’l Film Fest

A number of 1,950 films – comprising short and feature-length movies, animations, and documentaries – have been registered to the secretariat of the Roshd International Film Festival, said the secretary of the festival.

The deadline for submission has been extended until October 22, IRNA quoted Mohammad-Ebrahim Mohammadi as saying.

The 51st edition of the event will kick off in Tehran on December 11, and will run through December 18.

The movies are from 105 countries, Mohammadi said, adding, “India, the United States, Italy, Turkey, Russia, Spain, Brazil, France, Egypt, and the United Kingdom are the top 10 countries with the highest number of movies submitted to the festival.”

Films from Zambia, Yemen, Singapore, Rwanda, Malawi, North Macedonia, Guatemala, Ethiopia, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Benin, and Albania are also among registered works, Mohammadi added.

The Roshd International Film Festival is the oldest film event held annually in Iran by the Education Ministry, centering on films with educational themes.
