The Iranian Parliament and Russian State Duma are required to strengthen their relations.
The remark was made by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf in a Monday phone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vyacheslav Volodin, IRNA reported.
Congratulating Volodin on his reelection as the chairman of the Russian legislative, Qalibaf noted that Iran-Russia joint high parliamentary commission can play a significant role in helping the two countries achieve their economic goals and remove potential obstacles to bilateral trade.
He added the Iranian Parliament welcomes meetings of the joint economic and parliamentary commissions to continue trade cooperation between the two countries and maintain it.
Qalibaf also highlighted the role of the Iranian and Russian legislatives in facilitating and accelerating cooperation in political, economic and cultural fields.
Volodin, for his part, underlined the importance of developing bilateral parliamentary relations at different levels.
Turning to the growing ties between Russia and Iran in different fields, he said the two countries’ relations are based on mutual respect.
The State Duma chairman welcomed his Iranian counterpart’s proposal concerning the setup of joint parliamentary and economic commissions, stressing that the commissions’ meetings are required to be held as soon as possible.
