Iran’s animation ‘Benjamin’ to compete at Universal Film Festival

Iranian animation ‘Benjamin,’ directed by Mohsen Enayati, will take part in the Universal Film Festival in the US, from October 29 to 30.

In its latest screening, the animation competed at the 25th Seoul International Cartoon & Animation Festival (SICAF), from October 1 to 4 in Seoul, South Korea.

The animation has previously won the Best Character Award and the Best Feature Film Award at Kwetu International Animation Film Festival (KIAFF) in Tanzania and the Best Animation Award from the 32nd edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth Awards in Iran, Mehr News Agency reported.

The animation’s synopsis reads: ‘Benjamin’s clumsy yet sweet friend, Asher, screws up. This leads to Benjamin’s mother being captured by the king’s soldiers. Benjamin decides to embark on a hazardous journey to save his mother. This makes the beginning of Asher and Benjamin’s adventure.”

The Bahman Sabz Cultural Center, which previously premiered award-winning animations, ‘The Elephant King’ and ‘Princess of Rome’, is broadcasting ‘Benjamin’.

The Universal Film Festival was founded in 2007 in Kansas City, Missouri, the US. Each year, the festival will take place in a different city and country and include both live and virtual interactive festival options and events.
