Iran’s Health Ministry in a statement said that COVID-19 claimed 165 lives in the country from Thursday to Friday, increasing the total number of the death to 124,928.
According to the statement, the total COVID-19 infections since the beginning of the outbreak in the country in late February 2020 stand at 5,844,589.
It further said 4,422 COVID-19 patients are in critical condition, and of the newly-detected cases, 1,477 individuals have been hospitalized.
Some 5,388,496 COVID-19 patients have so far either recovered from the disease or have been discharged from hospitals.
So far, 34,551,206 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in the country and 78,665,265 doses of COVID jabs have been administered.
The Health Ministry also said nine cities are coded red (very high-risk), while 106 are in the orange zone (high-risk).
The number of the country’s yellow (medium-risk) and blue (low-risk) cities are 228 and 105, respectively, read the statement.
