Iran H1 crude steel output notches 12.9m tons

Major Iranian companies in mining and mineral sector produced 12,888,200 tons of crude steel in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year, which started March 21.

Production of crude steel and steel products decline 9.5 and 3.8 percent respectively compared to the previous year’s corresponding period, Mehr News Agency reported.

In this period, major companies produced 150,700 tons of copper cathode, a 3.7 percent growth year-on-year.

Iran has 81 various types of mining and mineral products. Its proven iron ore reserves stand at 2.7 billion tons, accounting for 0.8 percent of the world’s total mineral reserves.
