According to miraskhz.ir, the head of Shushtar World Heritage Site, Mohammadreza Bahadori, said that in the first event, when 2A Magazine introduced paragon cities based on their capacities and historical monuments, Shushtar had been announced a “Paragon City” in Iran, IRNA reported.
The event was held in the presence of national and international experts in the fields of architecture and civil engineering at the Center for International Seminars of the National Library and Archives of Iran in Tehran, he said, adding that the three cities of Shushtar, Yazd and Masouleh, in the northern province of Gilan, were selected as paragon cities due to their precious history and museums.
Referring to the great importance of being branded a “Paragon City,” Bahadori noted that attaining such a brand will pave the way for a city to be introduced nationally and internationally among architects and civil engineers, so the city can find sister cities throughout the world.
A Paragon City is a big and modern city, in which history is still alive today, the official said, noting that architecture, public places, sustainability, social justice, and transportation are being utilized in this kind of city to create an atmosphere that can meet all requirements of residents.
2A Magazine was established as an international magazine and hub for architectural studies. It has been involved with various activities and organizations throughout the past 17 years.
Shushtar is located in the northern part of Khuzestan Province, enjoying an ancient history and civilization. Shushtar’s Historical Hydraulic System was registered on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
After Ahvaz, Dezful and Abadan, Shushtar is the fourth populated city of the province. Karun and Dez rivers pass through the city. The city has a traditional architecture.
