The Iranian film, ‘A Hero,’ directed by two-time Oscar winner Asghar Farhadi, is set to open the ninth edition of Ajyal Film Festival in Qatar.

The film is the story of Rahim who is in prison because of a debt he was unable to repay. During a two-day leave, he tries to convince his creditor to withdraw his complaint against the payment of part of the sum. But things don’t go as planned, IMDB wrote.

The ninth edition of Ajyal Film Festival, which is presented by the Doha Film Institute (DFI), will be held from November 7 to 13, IRNA reported.

Amir Jadidi, Mohsen Tanabandeh, Fereshteh Sadr-Orafai and Sarina Farhadi are actors in the drama.

‘A Hero’ was awarded the Grand Prix at the 74th Cannes Film Festival in France. The prize was also shared by Juho Kuosmanen’s ‘Compartment No. 6’.

‘A Hero’ is also selected as Iran’s entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2022 Academy Awards.

This is the fifth time Farhadi is representing Iran at the Oscars. He has already won the Oscars twice for ‘A Separation’ and ‘The Salesman’.
