Iran’s Health Ministry said on Monday that nearly 200,000 people have so far received the third dose of the coronavirus across the country.

The ministry also said that 55,319,795 people have received the first dose while 39,465,958 people have received the second dose, according to IRIB News.

The government has launched a vaccination program in the country in a bid to stem the spread of the coronavirus.

The government is using both domestic and foreign vaccines.

The Iran Food and Drug Administration (IFDA) said Iranian companies have managed to raise the monthly production of coronavirus vaccines to 10 million doses.

The IFDA’s Director-General Heidar Mohammadi said seven million doses of the jabs are being produced by the Shifa Pharmed (Barakat) and Cinnagen companies, while other producers such as Razi Cov Pars and Pasteur Institute are producing the rest, Iran Front Page reported.

Mohammadi said that the Pasteur Institute has so far delivered 1.2 million doses of its vaccine to the Health Ministry and will raise its monthly delivery to two million doses from November 21.

The vaccination of the people has helped the government decrease the number of fatalities and new cases in the country.

The Health Ministry on Monday reported 8,341 new positive cases across the country in 24 hours.

Of the new cases detected over the 24 hours from Sunday to Monday, 1,164 patients have been admitted to hospitals, it added.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,669 coronavirus patients are being kept in intensive care units (ICUs) due to more severe infections, the ministry said.

The ministry further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 127,439, saying the disease took the lives of 140 patients in 24 hours.

At least 5,615,400 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far, or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.
