The festival was established to recognize and reward independent and freelance photojournalists who endeavor to gather images for the purpose of supporting news stories and bringing awareness to issues of impact from around the world.

The event aims to display evolution, variety, effort, joy, memories, pain, and hope; all subjects of the single international language.
