Iran is ready to be a pioneer in implementing the important decisions to be made in the 15th Summit of the Heads of Member States of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO Summit), to be held on November 28 in Ashgabat, said a deputy foreign minister.
Mehdi Safari, the deputy foreign minister for economic diplomacy, made the remark at a meeting with ECO Secretary-General Khosro Nazeri, IRNA reported.
Safari added expanding economic cooperation with neighbors is a priority of the incumbent Iranian administration, underlining ECO’s significant role in helping member states achieve their goals.
He said participation of a high-ranking Iranian delegation in the upcoming ECO Summit is indicative of the organization’s high status and importance.
Praising Iran’s contributions to preparations for the holding of the upcoming summit in the Turkmen capital, Nazeri presented a report on the process.
The two sides also stressed the importance of enhancing regional cooperation in different fields within the ECO framework, expressing readiness to further follow up on the implementation of the targets set and on the agenda of the organization.
The summit will be preceded by the 25th Meeting of the ECO Council of Ministers.
