Iranian civilization, through lens of Russian writer, on display at Russian book fair

A book written by a renowned Russian author and introducing Iranian civilization from the beginning to the Islamic Revolution and the Iraq-Iran war was unveiled at the International Fair of Intellectual Literature Non/fictio№23.

The book, ‘Iran from the Beginning to Ayatollah Khomeini,’ was written by Alex Gromoff, with an introduction by Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali.

It was published by Ibn Sina Foundation, according to IRNA.

Gromoff said in the unveiling ceremony that the book points to issues that have not yet been heard by Russians; so, the text can be interesting for the Russian and help them get acquainted with Iran’s culture and civilization.

He also tried to refer to the Iranians’ brilliant history, especially what happened in the Darband region, where there was a bridge between Russia and Iran, and it was part of Iranian territory earlier.

The second edition of the book will present information on Iran’s contemporary history, including the Islamic Revolution and the eight-year Sacred Defense, he noted.

The Iranian ambassador said that the history and civilization of Iran is well-known at the international level, adding that Iranians have been a pioneering nation in the arts, culture, civil society and governance; so, the Russian people are invited to inspect Iranian artworks and historical monuments.

Expressing gratitude to the Russian author, the Iranian ambassador noted that the book presents a good introduction to Iranian civilization and history.

Jalali also acknowledged that the Russian and Iranian people should learn more about each other’s culture and civilization.

Hamid Hadavi, managing director of Ibn Sina Foundation, said that the book has been published to provide readers with a proper opportunity to become aware of Iranian history and civilization and attract them to be informed on post-Islamic history in Iran, especially after the Islamic Revolution.

The International Fair of Intellectual Literature Non/fictio№23 is being held at the Gostiny Dvor Complex in Moscow from December 2 to 6.
