Three perpetrators of the recent assassination of two Iranian military forces were killed in clashes with the soldiers of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

In a statement on Friday, the Quds Base of the IRGC’s Ground Force announced that three elements behind the martyrdom of its forces were successfully annihilated, according to Press TV.

The statement identified one of the slain elements as Mehrab Shahbakhsh, saying Shahbakhsh and his two accomplices were actively involved in disturbing the peace of the people of the southeastern regions of the country.

“Following the martyrdom of two decent fighters of the Quds Base of the [IRGC], Mehran Shourizadeh and Mohsen Kaykhaei, by armed thugs and mercenaries of the global arrogance during a mission, the Islamic fighters killed the perpetrator of the crime in a precise operation thanks to the intelligence dominance of the base,” read the statement.

Last Sunday, the Quds Base announced that Shourizadeh and Kaykhaei were killed on duty in the southeastern city of Zahedan, the provincial capital of Sistan and Baluchestan.

Iranian forces frequently engage in clashes with thugs and terrorist outfits or carry out operations against them near the western and eastern borders.

In mid-December, the forces of the Quds Base smashed a terrorist ring in Sistan and Baluchestan.

“A terrorist ring that was plotting to carry out an act of sabotage and terror in the Saravan County was disbanded through the vigilance of the fighters of this base,” the IRGC said at the time, adding that four terrorists were killed in the clash and a large number of weapons and ammunition were seized.
