The Iranian Health Ministry announced on Monday that the country’s new daily COVID-19 infections surpassed 3,000.
The ministry announced in a statement that the country’s exact daily COVID-19 infections and fatalities in the past 24 hours reached 3,163 and 20.
According to the ministry, the total COVID-19 death toll and cases since the beginning of the outbreak in the country in late February 2020 stand at 132,095 and 6,224,196.
It said 1,313 people are in critical condition, and 338 new patients have been hospitalized.
According to the statement, 6,066,819 people have so far either recovered or have been discharged from hospitals, and 43,499,337 diagnostic tests have been carried out in the country.
The Health Ministry added the total number of administered vaccine doses in the country stands at 126,401,975, of which 60,350,685 have been given to people as the first dose, 53,195,312 as the second dose, and 12,855,978 as the third, booster shot.
Iran on December 19 said the first definite case of infection with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus was detected in the country. since then, the country has reported over 1,160 cases of the Omicron variant, of which three have died.
