FM: Iran gov’t determined to boost ties with Africa

The Iranian foreign minister said the country’s incumbent administration, under President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi, has adopted a balanced foreign policy and is determined to strengthen relations with the African states.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a phone conversation with Niger’s Foreign Minister Hassoumi Massaoudou, adding Iran maintains that Tehran and Niamey have considerable capacities for expanding bilateral relations, IRNA reported.

Massaoudou called for holding a session of the Niger-Iran Joint Commission in the African state’s capital, stressing that Tehran has an important place in his country’s foreign policy.

He added Niger’s government and people have always been grateful for the good relations between the two countries since the establishment of their diplomatic ties, particularly after Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Massaoudou expressed his country’s willingness to expand and deepen ties with Iran in all fields.

Commenting on the joint commission meeting proposal by Massaoudou, Amir-Abdollahian said it is a good and effective move toward improving bilateral ties.
