Iran’s NIDC drills 62 wells in 10 months

The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) drilled 62 onshore and offshore oil and gas wells during the first 10 months of the current calendar year (March 21, 2021-January 20, 2022).

NIDC Deputy Managing Director for Drilling Operations Masoud Afshar made the remark on Sunday, saying the company completed four exploration, four development, and 54 workover wells in this period, according to Shana.

Commenting on the vastness of the area under the firm’s operations, Afshar said the NIDC is in charge of projects in nine provinces of Khuzestan (southwestern Iran), Fars (southern Iran), Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad (southwestern Iran), Bushehr (southern Iran), Hormuzgan (southern Iran), Ilam (western Iran), Golestan (northern Iran), Ardebil (northwestern Iran) and Sistan and Baluchestan (southeastern Iran).

He added of the total figure, 46 wells were located in the operational territory of the National Iranian South Oil Company, nine were among the projects of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company, three were located in areas covered by the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company, one was drilled at the order of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company, two belonged to the National Iranian Oil Company's (NIOC) Exploration Directorate and one water well was drilled as part of the plans under implementation by the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology.

In this period, Afshar said, NIDC conducted 65,493 meters of drilling operations using 73 onshore and offshore rigs.

He added that of the total number of the rigs, 60 are already deployed in the project sites and 13 are undergoing periodic overhaul.

NIDC is an NIOC subsidiary company. It is involved in exploration, development and delineation drilling of oil and gas wells.

The company's services include well logging, cementing and acidizing, drill stem test, well testing, training and development, and general services. It also provides engineering, programming, and industrial cleaning services to steam boilers, compressors suction and lube oil systems, chillers, and heat exchangers, as well as industrial cleaning services to the oil and gas refineries.

NIDC is in charge of all offshore and onshore drilling activities, providing over 90 percent of drilling services for oil companies in the country.
