Raeisi: Iran willing to boost all-out ties with India

Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi expressed the country’s readiness to expand relations with India in various areas and open a “new chapter” in mutual cooperation.

In separate messages to Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, Raeisi congratulated the Indian government and people on Republic Day, a national holiday marking the date (January 26, 1950) on which the Constitution of India came into effect, Tasnim News Agency reported.

In the message to his Indian counterpart, the Iranian president hailed the outstanding relations between the two countries, as two old civilizations in Asia with rich cultures.

Expressing confidence that Iran and India will open a new chapter in their cooperation, Raeisi said, “The Islamic Republic has the necessary determination and readiness to expand and deepen relations with India in all fields.”

In the message to Modi, Raeisi expressed hope that cooperation between Tehran and New Delhi would be enhanced in light of their cultural and civilizational commonalities and age-old relations.

In July 2021, in a meeting with Minister of External Affairs of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in Tehran, Raeisi said the top priorities in Iran’s cooperation with India are ensuring collective security with the participation of all regional countries as well as increasing economic interactions.
