Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Tuesday called on Muslims to seize the upcoming International Quds Day to demonstrate their solidarity with the Palestinian people.

“The Quds Day is an opportunity to express empathy and solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine,” Ayatollah Khamenei told a gathering of Iranian students in Tehran three days before the annual event which sees people around the world take to the streets in support of the Palestinian cause on the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan.

The Leader said the Palestinian youths will not allow the issue of Palestine “to sink into oblivion” through their struggle and resistance.

“The people and youth of Palestine have made tremendous sacrifices and the Zionist regime [of Israel] has used utmost wickedness to commit crimes,” said Ayatollah Khamenei, adding that the United States and Europe are supporting Israel in its crimes against the Palestinians.

He blasted Muslim countries for their weak stances on the issue of Palestine.

“Unfortunately, Muslim states are not even willing to talk about Palestine. Some of them think the way to help Palestine is to establish relations with the Zionists, which is a big mistake,” the Leader pointed out.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted certain Islamic states are making the same mistake former Egyptian president Anwar Sadat made by normalizing ties with Israel 44 years ago.

“Did Egypt's relationship with the Zionist regime reduce Zionists’ crimes against the Palestinian people and reduce the desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque?” the Leader asked, adding the normalization would not benefit the Zionist regime either.

The Leader expressed hope that the Palestinians would soon take over their land and Al-Aqsa Mosque by the grace of God.

Elsewhere in his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the conflict in Ukraine which he said is “a prelude to complicated, strenuous processes”.

“In the context of the genesis of a new world order, one needs to take a deeper look at the recent war in Ukraine, which is probably a prelude to complicated, strenuous processes. In such novel, complicated situations, each country, including the Islamic Republic, is obliged to maintain both hardware and software presence in the new [world] order so as to ensure the interests and security of the country without beating about the bush,” the Leader said.

U.S. in weaker position

The Leader said that the United States is now in a weaker position in every aspect compared to the past.

"Inside, in its domestic politics, in its foreign policy, in its economy, in its security, in everything, America is now weaker compared to 20 years ago," he underscored.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the world is witnessing a new order and a new international order is emerging in the world.

He further said that the U.S. sought to become the only superpower in the world and establish a unipolar system after the collapse of the Soviet Union but it has failed in every aspect.
