The United States at the helm of the global hegemony and its cruel and criminal allies, including the Zionist regime, as Iran’s sworn enemies have shown during the region’s recent conflicts that they do not have any reservation when it comes to killing innocent people, said the defense minister.

Brigadier General Mohammadreza Ashtiani made the remarks in an address to a Saturday conference attended by the Defense Ministry’s senior directors, IRNA reported.

He added they also seek to promote unilateralism, impose their will on other nations, sow discord among different ethnic and religious groups and fan the flames of war between countries.

The minister noted that thus, to counter these threats, creating power and increasing the country’s deterrent capabilities are among the Defense Ministry’s main targets, which will be pursued seriously through efforts by its staff and the heroic Armed Forces.

In line with the same objectives, the ministry has also placed on its agenda improving relations with neighboring countries, promoting interactions and multilateralism, focusing on development of an economy-oriented foreign policy and also strengthening the resistance front, Brigadier General Ashtiani said.

He described the ministry’s main mission as supporting the Armed Forces through supplying armaments and resources to enable them to increase the national power.

He urged the ministry’s directors to be fully aware of their main mission, goals and organizational policies, listing the ministry’s other responsibilities as supporting the Armed Forces through expanding their defense capabilities and improving their technical abilities and equipment capacities, monitoring threats and international developments and developing modern technologies.
