Iran’s national futsal team will play in a couple of friendly fixtures against Argentina and Paraguay.

Ehsan Osouli, the head of the Futsal Committee at the Iranian Football Federation, said the Asian powerhouse will visit Argentina to square off against the 2022 World Cup runner-up on July 17 – in a repeat of last September’s group stage clash in Lithuania, which the South American giant won 2-1.

Iran will then face Paraguay on July 19.

Iran beat Paraguay 4-3 in extra time at the 2016 World Cup quarterfinals on its way to a historic third-spot finish in Colombia.

Under new manager Vahid Shamsaei, Iran will be seeking a record-extending 13th title at the AFC Futsal Asian Cup in Kuwait, starting September 25.

Shamsaei, a three-time AFC Futsal Player of the Year, replaced Mohammad Nazemasharieh in January.

On his debut on Iran’s bench, the Iranian futsal great led the country to a clean sweep of victories over Maldives, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan in April for a place in September’s showdown.
