Industry Ministry: Foreign investment rose 52% last year

The total volume of foreign investment in Iran’s industry, mining, and trade sectors increased by 52.2 percent to reach more than $3.7 billion over the last calendar year compared to the year before.

According to the statistical tables released by the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade, 154 cases of foreign investment, valued at $3.758 billion, were approved in various industrial, mining, and trade sectors of the country in the year 1400 (March 21, 2021-March 20, 2022), IRNA reported.

The quantity of foreign investments, however, shows a 2.5 percent drop compared to the corresponding figure for the year 1399, as 158 cases of foreign investment, valued at $2.469 billion, were approved that year.

Foreign investment figures included share buying by foreigners in Iranian companies as well as investment commitments by foreigners for carrying out new projects in the country.
