Iranian women’s team was crowned the champion at the Asian Belt Wrestling (Alysh) Championship in Osh, Kyrgyzstan.
A total of six medals, including one gold, saw the country finish atop the standing on 115 points, followed by the host, which tallied 112 points, with Uzbekistan standing third garnering 94 points.
Sara Alipour won the sole gold medal for the country, coming out victorious in the 75kg final.
Sepideh Babaei (55kg), Sheida Fahimi (65kg), Sahar Ghanizadeh (70kg), and Haniyeh A’ashouri (+75kg) settled for silver medals of their respective weight classes.
Fatemeh Fattahi finished her campaign with a consolation 60kg bronze.
In the men’s contests, meanwhile, Mohammad Nabizadeh was the only Iranian to leave the event with a medal – a bronze in the 70kg class.
More than 300 athletes represented 14 countries at the three-day tournament.
