Manufacturing heavy battlecruisers is on the Iranian Navy’s agenda, said the force’s commander.

Making the remark in an address to a meeting of experts on Monday, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani added the equipment needed by the Iranian Navy is entirely manufactured domestically, IRNA reported.

He noted that in addition, the navy forces are trained by domestic experts.

Real Admiral Irani stressed that the Iranian Navy pays special attention to using the capabilities and capacities of domestic experts and elites as well as new technology-based firms.

He added the production of heavy battlecruisers will be part of efforts to implement the roadmap set out by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

The commander said during the past four decades, the Islamic Republic has thwarted numerous threats, from which it has gained invaluable experiences.

He noted that at present, the Iranian naval forces have access to each and every part of the high seas, which is an indication of the remarkable increase in the country’s strategic depth.

Rear Admiral Irani added that, as stressed by the Leader, the navy is a strategic force, which is at the Armed Forces’ defense edge.

He described the navy as the main factor contributing to the progress of the southern Makran coast.

The commander said the Iranian Navy’s power is manifest in the naval fleets’ capabilities of navigating the high seas and ensuring shipping lines’ security.

He added the Iranian naval forces escort merchant ships and oil tankers in international waters up to the Red Sea and within the Strait of Hormuz.

In late April, Rear Admiral Irani said the country’s naval fleets were roaming the high seas without any problems, adding that no foreign country would ever dare approach the Islamic Republic’s territorial waters.
