Expansion of political and economic relations with the Iraqi government and nation is Iran’s priority in diplomatic ties with neighbors, said the CEO of official news agency IRNA.
Ali Naderi made the remarks in an address to a meeting with Zargham Hosseini, the representative of Leader of the Iraqi National Hikma (Wisdom) Movement Sayyid Ammar Hakim, in Tehran on Thursday, IRNA reported.
He added boosting ties with Iraq is of great strategic and political importance for Iran.
Naderi noted that Iran’s relations with the Iraqi government and nation have always been based on the policy of good neighborliness and goodwill, saying IRNA is viewed as a reliable source and reference in Arab states, which provides an opportunity for boosting bilateral ties.
Hosseini said relations with Iran have always been very important to Iraq.
He described the status quo in Iraq as very tough, saying improving the situation calls for expanded relations and cooperation between the two nations.
