Necessary measures are being adopted in the islands of Iran’s southern Hormuzgan Province to properly host fans coming from all over the world to watch the 2022 Qatar World Cup, said an MP.
Ahmad Moradi, a representative of Hormuzgan Province in the Iranian Parliament, added that a number of meetings have been held between the presidents, ministers, and directors of free zones of Iran and Qatar on the matter.
“Ensuring the conformity of Iranian hotels to the highest global standards, improving the quality of hotel services, leaving passengers with a sense of satisfaction, offering befitting urban services, and upgrading city facilities and equipment are among necessary measures that were discussed and implemented,” he stated.
The efforts, however, have been concentrated on Kish and Qeshm Islands, leading the lawmaker to criticize the negligence in allocating adequate resources and bringing in more of the Hormuzgan islands to help Qatar.
“As soon as we were informed that the next World Cup will be held in Qatar, we should have built several football fields in the Islands of Hormuzgan, especially in Kish and Qeshm Islands,” Moradi remarked, adding that not even these two islands have enough quality fields at the moment.
Since that opportunity has passed, Iranian officials have been thinking of preparing and developing hotels to host World Cup tourists and guests.
Moradi noted that the southern coastal province of Hormuzgan has 14 islands of unique features in the vicinity of the Persian Gulf Arab countries.
Noting the four-seasons climate of the province, he maintained, “Hormuzgan Province has the capacity to become a destination for foreign medical and marine tourists.”
The MP expressed certainty that some of the Hormuzgan Islands, particularly Kish Island, are quite suitable for hosting tourists and World Cup fans and can leave a pleasant memory for them.
