President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi said despite the tough COVID-19 circumstances and while the enemies strained every nerve and sinew to dissuade Iranians from going to polling stations during the country’s June 18 presidential election last year, the people foiled their plots thanks to their insight, cognizance and prudence.

Raeisi made the remarks in a Saturday address to a number of people from the counties of Pishva, Qarchak and Varamin, Tehran Province, who had gathered to mark the first anniversary of the June 18 presidential election, wrote.

He said people demand his administration fight poverty, corruption and discrimination, giving the assurance that his cabinet is committed to its pledges and will fulfill them in practice.

Commenting on his plan to correct corruptive structures, Raeisi noted that in his former capacity as the Judiciary chief, he fought corruption, whereas, at present and as the country’s president, he is combatting the sectors and activities conducive to corruption.

“We have promised to amend corruptive structures and what causes inequality and will certainly do that.”

Raeisi stressed that the work has just started for Iran to eliminate all threats, expand its power and strongly defend the Islamic Republic’s freedom and independence.

He said, “Despite the [enemy] sanctions and threats, I see a bright future [for the country] and believe that the enemy that has so far failed in its anti-Iran bids will not be able to stop us or push us back from now on. There is only one path ahead of us and that is the path of making progress and promoting justice.”

Raeisi noted that although the Islamic Republic’s enemies and ill-wishers did their best to mudsling the government over the past months, he had urged the officials to be careful lest they succumb to such bids.

The president gave the assurance that he will restore calm and stability to the domestic market, preparing the ground for stimulating economic growth.

Raeisi said his administration aims to achieve an eight percent economic growth in the current Iranian calendar year, which will end in March 2023.

The president also vowed to build four million housing units during his four-year term in office.
