The Iranian Health Ministry announced in a statement on Monday that the country’s daily COVID-19 deaths and cases reached 33 and 9,775, respectively, during the past 24 hours.
It put the total death toll and infections since the beginning of the outbreak in late February 2020 at 141,717 and 7,337,928.
The ministry said of the new cases, 1,397 have been hospitalized, adding 972 patients are in critical conditions.
According to the statement, 7,074,166 patients have so far recovered from the disease.
It said by Monday, 64,753,349 people in the country had received a first dose of the COVID vaccine, 58,118,296 had been given a second shot, and 29,890,267 a third booster shot.
The ministry added the total number of the administered doses stand at 152,761,912.
Iranian Health Minister Bahram Einollahi said on Monday any symptoms similar to those of the common cold should be diagnosed as COVID-19 in view of the increasing casualties, calling for stricter compliance with the health protocols.
He added that the world will have to deal with the virus and new wave of infections for some time.
