The Iranian Parliament speaker reaffirmed his country’s continuous support for Palestinians’ efforts to safeguard their rights.

Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf made the statement in a Wednesday phone conversation with Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement Ziad al-Nakhala, Fars News Agency wrote.

He added the Islamic Jihad is among the most effective Palestinian resistance movements in the fight against the occupying Zionist regime.

Congratulating Nakhala on the resistance front’s recent victories against Israel, Qalibaf gave the assurance that the Islamic Republic always stands by the Palestinian people and their  Islamic resistance at full strength and under any circumstances.

He expressed deep sorrow at the martyrdom of two Islamic Jihad movement commanders in the recent battle against the Zionist regime, noting that the movement plays a very important role in confronting Israel’s aggressions.

Nakhala stressed that the resistance front is capable of resisting Israel and dealing strong blows to the regime in protracted battles.

Praising the Iranian Parliament’s unflinching support for the Palestinian people as well as their resistance and fight against the Zionist regime, he added during the latest Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, the regime was forced into calling for a cease-fire and acquiescing to the Islamic Jihad’s conditions.

Nakhala noted that the resistance groups’ unity inside and outside Palestine in the face of the Israeli regime was the resistance front’s great achievement in the recent battle.

He stressed that the resistance front’s missiles hit Israeli targets deep inside the occupied territories during the recent war.

Major flare-ups in the occupied territories led to an Israeli incursion into the besieged Gaza Strip on Friday with the regime hitting what it claimed to be a series of military targets in Gaza, according to Press TV.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement also responded by launching hundreds of rockets toward the occupied territories, sending Israelis in southern occupied territories, including Tel Aviv, into shelters.

A truce brokered by the Egyptian mediators between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement in Gaza went into effect at 11:30 p.m. local time (2030 GMT) on Sunday, as the movement said it “reserves the right to respond to any Zionist aggression”.
