Commander: Navy to carry out special new mission by March

The Iranian Army’s Navy plans to carry‎ out a new special mission by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20), said the force’s commander.

Making the remark in an exclusive interview with Fars News Agency, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani added a new domestically-built forward base ship will also be unveiled in ‎the near future.

On the date of the new mission, he said it would be announced, along with further details, in the ‎future.

Rear Admiral Irani expressed hope that his forces would be able to sail across all oceans in the future, adding in view of ‎the necessity of the Iranian Navy’s greater presence in the high seas, a number of vessels are planned to be built in the form of logistical warships, which will be used as mobile ‎offshore bases.

He said the navy will unveil other vessels in the future. ‎

In 2021, the Iranian Navy’s 75th flotilla accomplished a 133-day mission of navigating across the high seas ‎and oceans, including the Indian Ocean as well as the South and North Atlantic Ocean, before returning to ‎the country in September.

Back then, Iranian officials said the voyage was aimed at promoting maritime authority, securing maritime ‎routes and strengthening maritime diplomacy and carrying the message of peace and friendship of the ‎great Iranian nation.
