The Iranian Parliament speaker said on Sunday in view of the unity and solidarity among all resistance circles and movements, today, it can be said with certainty that the annihilation of the occupying Zionist enemies is more imminent than ever.
Making the remark in an address to an open session of Parliament, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf also commemorated the Islamic Resistance Day (August 14), marking the anniversary of the end of the 33-day war between Israel and Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah, IRNA reported.
He said the occasion is reminiscent of Hezbollah’s heroic resistance against Israel in the 33-day imposed war, which marked a new chapter in the battles against the criminal Zionist regime.
Qalibaf noted that the recent victories by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement against Israel proved that any part of the Islamic resistance is capable of crushing the Zionist regime’s deepest defense layers and smashing its will into pieces.
He also described as “promising and crushing” the performance put in by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement in the recent battle against the deadly Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.
Close to eight decades of Israeli wickedness and crimes have made it clear to any impartial onlooker that the regime’s survival and existence hinge on creating insecurity, sowing discord, causing differences, perpetrating acts of terror as well as organized crimes and occupation across the region, the Parliament speaker said.
Qalibaf noted that in the beginning of the wars in Syria and Iraq, some people made miscalculations about the regional circumstances, stressing that, however, when the reality was revealed about the Daesh terrorist group’s heinous crimes, which also worried Europeans, any unbiased Iranian believed that the country’s heroic forces that are fighting terrorists in the two Arab states are not solely defending the holy shrines of the household of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), but Iran’s security.
In a Thursday letter addressed to Islamic Jihad’s Secretary-General Ziad al-Nakhala, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei hailed the Palestinian movement for its spirited steadfastness and resilience during the recent three-day-long Israeli military onslaught on the besieged Gaza Strip,
The Leader stated that the group proved that any segment of the resistance front can rub the Tel Aviv regime’s nose to the ground.
On August 5, the Israeli regime carried out a new massacre in Gaza, killing dozens of people, including Taysir al-Jabari, a senior commander of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and six children.
The Israeli airstrikes prompted the Al-Quds Brigades, the Islamic Jihad’s military wing, to respond by firing hundreds of rockets toward the occupied territories, pushing the regime forces on the back foot.
The strong retaliation, as was pledged by the resistance group, forced Tel Aviv to demand a cease-fire in order to prevent maximum damage. The Egyptian-mediated truce took effect on August 7.
