The deputy Iranian interior minister on Tuesday warned that arms smugglers and armed criminals will receive the harshest punishment from the country’s courts and will remain imprisoned until their court rulings are issued.

Making the remarks in an address to a conference attended by a number of Iranian provincial officials, Majid Mir-Ahmadi, the deputy interior minister for security and law enforcement affairs, added that armed crimes are threats to public security, ISNA reported.

He added that given this, the relevant authorities have made important decisions for confronting arms smugglers and armed criminals.

Mir-Ahmadi noted that such criminals are brought to trial and receive their court rulings swiftly, stressing that they will face the harshest punishments and will not be entitled to any commutation.

The deputy minister said, at present, the enemies seek to compromise the security inside the country through waging an all-out economic, security, cyber and cultural war, noting that they have, however, failed to achieve their wicked objectives thanks to the cognizance of the Iranian people and officials.

He stressed, “Through continuous activities and efforts, we must not allow the Islamic Establishment’s adversaries and enemies to jeopardize the country’s security and tranquility.”
