Building a new global culture through Arbaeen

Arbaeen is a symbol of Islamic civilization and a show of force by the Shia community, said the research deputy of Qom Seminary.

Making the remarks in the ‘Arbaeen and Islamic Civilization’ meeting in the Iraqi holy city of Karbala, Abolghassem Moghimi-Haji added that to develop a Muslim Ummah (community), a culture must have the mechanisms necessary for confronting the competition, IRNA reported.

“There is one dominant narrative in the West when it comes to explaining how civilizations are made, and that is the ‘Clash of Civilizations’, but there is another compelling narrative which claims that competitions make civilizations,” he maintained.

Recognizing that Arbaeen is held to mark the 40th day after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (PBUH), the third Imam of Shia Muslims, Moghimi-Haji advised that the potential of this large gathering of people should be fully explored.

Jassim al-Musawi, a professor of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), pointed out that only the movement initiated by the Islamic Republic of Iran is capable of reviving genuine Islam and rebuilding its civilization.

“Arbaeen creates an ideal community on a small scale,” said Al-Musawi, adding that raising hopes for the formation of the worldwide, ideal government of Imam Mahdi (PBUH) is the most significant achievement of Arbaeen.

Seyyed Mehdi Mir Bagheri, a professor at Qom Seminary, added that to confront the forces that stand against the Muslim Ummah, an Imam is needed who will eradicate the culture of worshipping idols and improve the rules of the Ummah.

Majid Emami, the Secretary of the Public Culture Council of Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, pointed out that through the spiritual tourism of Arbaeen, a culture is revived that counters propaganda, to say the least.

‘Arbaeen and Islamic Civilization’ was the latest meeting in the series of international meetings and conferences that the Cultural Committee of Arbaeen Headquarters organized in Karbala.
