Iran, Syria ink MoU for cultural cooperation

Iran and Syria signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on expansion of cultural cooperation.

The MoU was inked by Syrian Culture Minister Lubana Mushawah, and Head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) Mohammad-Mehdi Imanipour at the Ministry of Culture in Damascus on Wednesday, the official Syrian SANA news agency reported.

“A specific program for the memo will be drawn up between the concerned bodies of the two countries for the direct implementation,” Mushawah explained in a press statement after signing the MoU, noting the importance of this memo as it coincides with the opening of the Iranian Cultural Week events in Khan Assad Pasha, Damascus.

“We are here for the Iranian Cultural Week, which opens today [Wednesday] in Syria to strengthen bilateral cultural relations through this memo for the interest of the two nations,” Imanipour said.

The MoU would pave the way for exchanging cultural weeks and film festivals and organizing workshops specialized in theater, plastic art, antiquities and museums.

Exchanging professors and experts to qualify cadres also were stipulated in the memo, along with the exchange of experts and trainees between Al-Assad National Library and the National Library and Archives of Iran.
