Iran will play Tunisia in Doha in a warmup game ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Mohammad-Mehdi Nabi, the vice-president of the Iranian Football Federation said.

The two sides will go head-to-head on November 16 – five days before Carlos Queiroz’s men kick off their Group B campaign against England in Doha’s Khalifa International Stadium.

The announcement came after the Iranian football governing body had confirmed that the national team would play Nicaragua on November 10 in Tehran, three days before leaving for the showdown in the Persian Gulf country.

Ranked 30th in October’s FIFA Ranking – third in Africa – Tunisia will be among the five teams to represent the continent at the World Cup.

The African giant will face Denmark on Nov. 22 in their opening fixture in Group D – also featuring France and Australia.

This will be a fourth pre-World Cup friendly for Iran under Portuguese Queiroz, who returned to the job in mid-September, three years after ending his previous eight-year spell in charge of the Asian powerhouse.

Iran beat South American heavyweight Uruguay 1-0, thanks to a Mehdi Taremi’s strike, before Sardar Azmoun headed home an equalizer as Queiroz’s side played to a 1-1 draw against African champion Senegal in Austria during the previous international break.

Chasing a first-ever progress to the knockout phase, Iran will face Wales on Nov. 25 before taking on USA in the final round of group fixtures in Doha’s Al Thumama Stadium four days later.
