Tehran, Baku interested in deepening ties

Iran and Azerbaijan are keen on boosting trade relations, said the Iranian minister of communications and information technology.

On the sidelines of his meeting with Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov, Mahmoud Vaezi added that a new chapter has opened in the two countries' expanding relations, IRNA reported.

Vaezi noted that Iranian and Azerbaijani presidents have had favorable meetings in the past eight months, the last of which was held five years after the formation of Iran-Azerbaijan Economic Commission.

The Iranian minister said in his session with the Azerbaijani official that they signed 11 important economic documents.

"The two sides also decided to begin the implementation of a joint political statement signed during the recent visit of President Hassan Rouhani to Baku, which is indicative of the two presidents' interest in promoting mutual cooperation," he said.
