A joint film of Iran, Germany, and Canada, ‘Metamorphosis in the Slaughterhouse,’ directed by Iranian director Javad Daraei and produced by Mehdi Koohzadeh, won the grand prize of the 17th edition of the Houston Asian American Pacific Islander Film Festival in Texas, the US.
The South Korean filmmaker Kim Ki-duk died at 59 in a Latvian hospital, where he was being treated for COVID-19. The news was initially reported by Vitaly Mansky, director of Latvia’s Artdocfest film festival, later confirmed by Kim’s family in the Korean media. Kim was understood to be developing a film project set in the Baltic region when he became ill.
The prominent filmmaker and cinematographer Iris Ng is slated to hold an online master class in the 14th Iran International Documentary Film Festival, known as Cinéma Vérité, which is scheduled to be organized totally online from December 15 to 22 in Tehran.
