Following the events of the recent years among some European countries concerning the application of the restriction on hijab, specifically including in sports competitions, Azizollah Fazli, the chairman of the Deputy of Communications and Constitution Implementation of the Legal Vice Presidency of the Islamic Republic of Iran has issued a declaration as follows:
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Iran, in collaboration with the Iran Wrestling Federation, organized a Sri Lanka-Iran Sports Friendship Event-2021 at its Chancery in Tehran on 23rd November 2021, in parallel with the 35th World Military Wrestling Championship which is being held from 19th-26th November 2021 in Iran. Around 50 participants representing from the Sri Lankan Tri Forces, Iranian Wrestling Federation, sport related industries, sport tourism sector associations and media agencies were attended the event. The main objective of the event was to create an initial roadmap for strengthening sports relations between Sri Lanka and the Islamic Republic of Iran particularly in wresting.
Iran President Hassan Rouhani described sports and tourism as two important pillars in strengthening the vitality and health of the society, and emphasized that we should not only protect the ancient cultural heritage of the country, but provide greater opportunities to show it to the world, so that by seeing these great and magical works, the world knows what important records this nation has.
