Lithuania eyeing better economic relations with Iran
Tehran and Vilnius enjoy broad opportunities and capacities to increase bilateral trade, especially in the area of pharmaceuticals.

Mohsen Karimi Tabbasi, who is the honorary consul of Lithuania in Iran, said that Lithuania is interested in the development of cooperation with Iran in the economic field, reported Fars News Agency.

Iran has the capacity to produce and export $3 billion of pharmaceutical raw materials, the official added.

Lithuanian policy towards Iran is quite clear and Vilnius wants to preserve the level of relations with Iran, the envoy added.

He noted that the issuance of visas for Iranian traders has been facilitated and the two countries’ investors are welcomed.

Late in May 2016, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Lithuanian counterpart, Linas Linkevicius, in a meeting in Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding to broaden political consultations between the two countries.
