Iran’s daily COVID-19 death toll rises above 200
Iran’s Health Ministry announced that 201 coronavirus patients died across the country from Wednesday to Thursday, bringing the total national COVID-19 death toll to 86,592.

According to a statement by the ministry, so far, 3,464,055 coronavirus cases have been detected in the country after 23,655 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours, Tasnim News Agency reported.

It added that at least 3.86 million patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

It further noted more than 24.8 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and over 5.5 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.

Earlier in the day, Iran received the sixth cargo of the COVID-19 vaccines, containing 1,142,800 doses.

According to Secretary General of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) Mohammad Hossein Qosian Moqaddam, with the arrival of the sixth consignment, the total number of foreign vaccines imported by the IRCS stands at more than seven million doses.

He added that the newly-arrived vaccines have been delivered to the Health Ministry at the Imam Khomeini International Airport.

More than 189 million people have been infected with COVID-19 worldwide and more than four million have died of the disease.
