An executive from the Iranian Artists Forum said that joint cultural and artistic cooperation with Persian-speaking countries, including Afghanistan, is of great importance, referring to the exhibition of Afghan artists underway at the Tehran-based forum.

In an exclusive interview with Iran Daily, the cultural deputy at the Iranian Artists Forum Asieh Mazinani said that during the ten-day exhibition of “Hamkhaneh” (housemate), which started on October 8, 68 works of 16 Afghan artists in the fields of Persian miniature, illuminated manuscripts, sculpture, photography, and calligraphy, etc. are on display.

Organized by Afghan artists living in Iran, the exhibition’s emphasis is on the commonalities of the two countries, Mazinani said, adding that this is especially important in the case of Afghanistan, which has a common language with Iran.

Noting that the exhibition of Afghan artists is underway for the first time, in a group, at the Iranian Artists Forum, she said that prominent Afghan artists live in Iran including Sculptor Alikhan Abdollahi, who participated in this exhibition.

She explained, “The preparations for holding the exhibition were done a year and a half ago; therefore, its holding has nothing to do with the recent political developments in Afghanistan and the new government in this country”.

The exhibition has been very well received by visitors including Afghans living in Iran as well as the citizens of Tehran, said the cultural deputy at the Iranian Artists Forum.

Referring to the joint cultural and artistic cooperation with other countries, Mazinani expressed hope that the ground for cultural and artistic cooperation with all countries, including other neighboring and Persian-speaking countries, will be provided.
