NDMO: Flood death toll reaches 76 as search continues for missing people
The death toll from the recent floods in Iranian provinces has risen to 76 as the search continues to find missing people, said the head of the National Disaster Management Organization (NDMO).

Mohammad-Hassan Nami added that 16 people are still missing, ISNA reported.

During the past days, heavy monsoon rainfall led to flash floods in different parts of Iran, causing damage to counties, cities, villages and roads in 25 provinces.

Mehdi Valipour, the head of the Relief and Rescue Organization of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), said the floods affected 167 counties, 130 cities, 1,386 villages and 153 roads.

Ever since July 23, when the rainfall and consequent floods started, he said, the ‎organization has provided assistance to 61,127 people by 6,500 rescue workers, in 1,500 operational teams.‎

He listed the provinces where the rescue and relief work is still continuing as Fars (southern Iran), Kerman (southeastern Iran), Sistan and Baluchestan (southeastern Iran), Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari (western Iran), ‎Khuzestan (southwestern Iran) and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad (southwestern Iran).
