Reports : Israeli forces raid, close Palestinian Radio Dream
Israeli soldiers have attacked a popular Palestinian radio station over what authorities described as its attempts to further escalate tensions in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian reports say.

The offices of Radio Dream in the southern occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron) was attacked on Saturday night, with the Israeli forces confiscating the radio’s broadcasting equipment and shutting it down.

Images posted by Palestinian users on social media apparently show soldiers standing outside the premises. The images also show a damaged door and equipment scattered on the floor.

In another image, a printed directive signed by Israeli officials can be seen, in which the station is ordered to remain closed until May 26, 2015. However, the letter that is dated November 26, 2015, is most likely referring to May 26, 2016.

The Israeli military claimed that the radio station was closed due to ongoing “incitement,” according to Channel 2, which added that the forces who attacked the station were accompanied by agents of Israeli spying service Shin Bet.

Radio Dream is the third radio station that has been targeted in recent weeks after being accused of spreading hatred against the Tel Aviv regime.

On November 20, Israeli forces stormed the al-Khalil Radio office overnight and closed it down for six months. They confiscated the station’s equipment and caused property damage.

Earlier this month, Tel Aviv also shut down and imposed a ban on broadcasts by Palestinian Manbar al-Hurriyya radio station.

The development comes as the Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms, also known as MADA, has said that more than 450 violations of media freedoms have been carried out by the Israeli regime since the start of the year.

The watchdog in a statement condemned “the ongoing violence against Palestinian journalists by the Israeli Occupying Forces.” According to MADA, press freedom violations have witnessed “an enormous escalation” this year.

Tensions have been on the rise between Israelis and Palestinians in recent weeks after Israel imposed restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem).
