Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said the United States with its dark history is not qualified to judge other countries.

Mousavi’s comments came in reaction to a report released by the US State Department on Sunday which accused the Islamic Republic of carrying out terrorist acts after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in the country, according to IRNA.

“Given its dark history, the United States is not politically, legally, and morally qualified to judge other countries and it is better to first address its dirty and dark history,” Mousavi said on Monday.

Rejecting the “baseless” report, Mousavi said the allegations are caused by conspiracy and illusion with the aim of waging psychological war and exerting pressure on Iran.

The Iranian official also said that the US has never given any proof for its “unfounded” allegations, noting that the accusations have been made by those who have interfered in internal affairs of at least 55 independent countries on “groundless’ pretexts over the past century.

Regarding sanctions and economic terrorism, Mousavi said according to the US Treasury Department, Washington has sanctioned 33 countries since 2017. He underlined that many of these unilateral and extraterritorial sanctions have severe and destructive effects on the people of those countries.
