Iran, Serbia hold talks to develop trade ties
The head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO), Hamid Zadboum, and Serbian Ambassador to Tehran Dragan Todorovic exchanged views on the problem of money transfers in bilateral trade, efforts to reestablish direct flights from Tehran to Belgrade, and also issues relating to agriculture and tourism.

In the meeting, the Serbian envoy said his country is seeking to resolve problems ahead of money transfers in mutual trade and economic transactions, planning for a visit of the Serbia president to Iran, and making efforts to reestablish direct flights between Tehran and Belgrade, reported Mehr News Agency.

The two sides also talked about boosting cooperation between the two countries in the field of health and the coronavirus pandemic, and development of cooperation in the field of agriculture and agricultural research.

They also emphasized the need for further efforts on holding the 16th Iran-Serbia Joint Economic Forum in Tehran.

For his part, Zadboum pointed to trade statistics between the two countries in the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 20-June 20) as well as the severe decline in trade between the two countries in this period due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.

He emphasized the need for implementing the provisions of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) inked between Iran and Serbia during the 15th Iran-Serbia Joint Economic Forum, which was held in 2018.

Zadboum described the upcoming visit of Serbian president to Iran as “important,” and in line with promoting bilateral trade.
