Iran’s FM urges int'l community to condemn state terrorism
Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a message in Chinese language called on the international community to condemn state terrorism.

The terrorists assassinated another outstanding Iranian scientist. A cowardly assassination is a blatant challenge to international law and international rules, and a violation of humanitarian and moral principles, Zarif said in a tweet on Saturday, IRNA reported.

The international community has the responsibility to prevent such acts. To maintain regional and world peace and stability, Iran has always been at the forefront of the fight against terrorism. We call on the international community to condemn state terrorism and jointly oppose adventurism that exacerbates regional tensions, he added.

The Iranian prominent scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was assassinated after being seriously wounded when assailants targeted his car and engaged in a gunfight with his bodyguards outside the capital Tehran on Friday, according to Iran's Defense Ministry.

The scientist succumbed to injuries after medics failed to revive him, said the Ministry's statement.

His assassination triggered international condolences and condemnations.

The European Union said in a statement on Saturday “this criminal act… runs counter to the principle of respect for human rights.”

Former head of the US Central Intelligence Agency John Brennan labeled Fakhrizadeh assassination a “criminal act” that risks inflaming conflict in the region.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Saturday urged definitive punishment of those behind the Fakhriadeh assassination.

"Follow up on this crime and certainly punishing the perpetrators and those ordered it, and ... continue the scientific and technical efforts of this martyr in all of the fields he was working in,” Ayatollah Khamenei ordered the Iranian authorities.
