First Uzbek language course kicks off at Allameh Tabataba’i University
The first Uzbek language course began on Sunday in Allameh Tabataba’i University (ATU) in Iran, said the caretaker of the university.

Abdollah Mo’tamedi added that Iran and Uzbekistan are two major countries in terms of civilization and culture, each with rich and precious cultural heritage, IRNA wrote.

Mo’tamedi made the statement in the opening ceremony of the course, which is cosponsored by the Faculty of Turkish Language of the ATU, the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Tashkent and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Cultural Institute.

“The cultural bonds between the two countries are as old as their long histories, and their shared religions and languages have always played significant roles in the further expansion of their relations,” he added.

The ATU caretaker said that although the recent decades’ political developments apparently highlighted the two countries’ border lines for a period of time, today those shared commonalities have once again paved the path for renewing the ancient ties between the Iranians and the Uzbeks.

Mo’tamedi said that in the year 2020, although the COVID-19 pandemic reduced the level of cooperation between the two countries’ universities, the ATU and the Oriental Studies University of Tashkent signed an agreement to increase bilateral ties.

He expressed appreciation for the role of the ECO Cultural Institute in strengthening cultural bonds between member states, adding that language, as the most important communication tool between humans, has a pivotal role in creating bonds between different societies.
