Iran, Cuba stress strengthening ties to counter US sanctions
Iranian Vice President for Economic Affairs Mohsen Rezaei in a meeting with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel stressed the need to strengthen bilateral relations to counter US sanctions.

The meeting occurred in Managua on the sidelines of the swearing in ceremony of Nicaragua’s President Daniel Ortega, Mehr News Agency reported.

The two sides described the bilateral political relations between the two countries as positive and discussed the development of economic, trade and joint cooperation in all fields, including health and the pharmaceutical industry.

Both Iran and Cuba have been the targets of US’s illegal sanctions for years.

The Iranian official also held separate meetings with some high-ranking officials from other countries.

The Nicaraguan president was sworn into office for his fourth consecutive term on Monday. He managed to secure 76 percent of the votes in the 2021 elections.
