Iranian Health Minister Bahram Einollahi on Monday praised the country's performance in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic, expressing appreciation for the efforts made by the medical staff across the country.

Einollahi named three factors for success in controlling the disease: Vaccination, the short duration of vaccination, and the type of vaccines used across the country, Mehr News Agency reported.

He explained that 149 million doses of vaccine have been injected so far, adding that the short duration of vaccination also increased immunity against the disease.

According to the Iranian deputy health minister, the type of vaccine most used in the country is the recombinant protein vaccines, together with inactivated virus vaccines.

Saeid Karimi said on Monday, “Today, it has been proven that the vaccines used in our country have been more successful. The result of these measures is a reduction in COVID cases in the current situation, which is a great success.”

A mere 570 cases of infection with COVID-19 were registered in Iran over the past 24 hours, 91 of whom required hospitalization, IRNA quoted the Health Ministry as saying on Monday.

According to daily figures provided by the ministry, 12 people died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

The number of deaths from the coronavirus pandemic in Iran is 141,189.
